There are many Street Fairs throughout San Francisco all year, and here is a listing of the most prominent because they each draw in excess of 100,000 visitors. The fairs are listed by when they usually occur.

Union Street Art Festival The granddaddy of them all. 1st weekend of June
Italian Street Painting Festival Sidewalk artists doing their thing. 2nd weekend in June
Haight Street Fair Music, art and the flower generation take over the neighborhood. 2nd Sunday in June
North Beach Festival Italian flavor. Hip, cool and beat with music and great Italian food. 3rd weekend in June
Fillmore Street Jazz Festival Celebrates the jazz and blues roots of the historic Fillmore district. July 4th weekend
Nihonmachi Street Fair Sometimes called the Japantown Fair or Cherryblossom festival. 2nd weekend of August
Polk Street Festival Arts and crafts with music and an urban oasis theme. 3rd weekend of September
Folsom Street Fair Reportedly the 3rd largest event in California just behind the Rose Parade and Pride Parades. last Sunday in September
Castro Street Fair A celebration of ‘middle class’ gay lifestyles and commerce in the gay mecca. 1st weekend in October

Several other fun events to watch for include Fleet Week, Chinese New Year’s Parade and celebration and the Candlelight Vigil.
