Artwork By James Jarrett

James Jarrett I was mesmerized the first canvas I saw created, or perhaps composed by San Francisco Artist Jimmy Jarrett. It is titled ‘Ibiza Night’ and is shown in the gallery on this site that extols the gorgeous and sensually sweeping stroke of Jarrett’s brush on the canvas as he tells us what he sees. I’m also drawn to his compelling and vivid portraits, which further exhibit his brilliant sense of line and color.

James Jarrett is an American abstract painter with a focus on experimentation with color. James was born in San Francisco, California and was raised in Frankfurt, Germany where he had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe gaining an early exposure to art.

Mr. Jarrett is a self-taught artist who relies on direct observations, meditation experience, and experimentation combined with conventional painting techniques. James shows regularly in the San Francisco Open Studios program where promising artists invite the public to view their work in their own studios and are available to talk with prospective collectors. James' influences are his love for unique, self-expressive people, and the beauty of natural environment. His paintings consist of a simple composition, allowing the complexity of a single color to unfold with a rich intensity.

James Jarrett’s paintings sell throughout the United States as well as globally and he is collected by serious collectors in more than 20 cities around the world including best selling author Danielle Steel who will be carrying his work in her new gallery, Steel, located on Sacramento Street in Presidio Heights here in Baghdad by the Bay. James currently lives and works in San Francisco, California and has web presence at www.JamesJarrett.com. He can be contacted to discuss upcoming shows and commissions at james@jamesjarrett.com.
